New York State County Highway Superintendents in Albany Seeking Support for Local Roads

Who: Six hundred (600) New York County Highway Superintendents (NYSCHSA)

What: Legislative Meetings and Press Conference

Where: Legislative Office Building (LOB), Albany

When: Wednesday, March 7, 2018

Legislative meetings begin at 9:00 am in the LOB

Press Conference at 10:15 am in the LOB (Well)

Why: Local roads and bridges account for 87% of NYS roads and more than half the bridges. Yet the proposed State Budget includes no increases in funding for the Consolidated Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) and holds the CHIPS base level at $438 million for the sixth consecutive year. The Budget also fails to re-appropriate $65 million for Extreme Weather Recovery. NYSCHSA urges a $150 million annual increase in the CHIPS base and a restoration of the funding for Extreme Winter Recovery.

The New York State County Highway Superintendents Association (NYSCHSA) is dedicated to meeting the needs of County Highway Superintendents and Commissioners of Public Works in their efforts to promote and maintain a safe and efficient county roads system. As the voice of Superintendents and Commissioners throughout the state, NYSCHSA provides accredited training and development to industry professionals and advocates for legislation and policies that support a strong investment in our local roads.
