Nominations Now Being Sought for Chattanooga's 2010 Women of Distinction Awards

CHATTANNOGA, TN (10/13/2009)(readMedia)-- The American Lung Association in Tennessee is seeking nominations for outstanding women throughout the area who would deserve to be recognized with a 2010 Woman of Distinction award.

The 25th Annual Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, from 11:15 AM to 1:30 PM, at the Chattanooga Convention Center Ballroom. The event, which benefits the American Lung Association of Tennessee, is a Chattanooga tradition that honors one Tennessee Woman of Distinction, plus ten of the Chattanooga areas most accomplished women who have distinguished themselves within their family, career, and community.

Nomination forms are available from the Chattanooga office at 629-1098, or may be downloaded from on-line at www.alatn.org. The deadline for nominations is November 9, 2009.

Co-chairs for the 2010 Women of Distinction event are Gail Coulter Gannaway and Barbie Standefer.

Money raised from the Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon helps fund medical research, advocacy and education here and nationwide and ensure clean air and healthy lungs for all Tennesseans. Lung disease is the third leading cause of death in the United States today. In Tennessee alone, more than 814,000 children and adults are affected by lung disease such asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and lung cancer.
