PEF honors nurses, calls for overdue changes to pay, mandated overtime laws

BROOKLYN, NY (05/16/2022) (readMedia)-- New York State nurses put everything on the line during the height of the COVID pandemic, despite short staffing, inadequate personal protective equipment, overtime mandates and compensation markedly less than agency nurses working alongside them.

The Public Employees Federation, which represents more than 8,000 nurses across the state, will hold a press conference on May 18 to demand the state restructure nursing titles, equalize pay grades, and pass legislation to limit mandated overtime.
