PSA - Alabama National Guard to fire artillery on Pelham Range

MONTGOMERY, AL (02/05/2014)(readMedia)-- The Alabama National Guard will conduct training which will include artillery firing, Feb. 6 – 9, on Pelham Range in Anniston. Artillery firing may be heard up to several miles away. Citizens should not be alarmed if they hear explosions coming from Pelham Range on these days. Generally, the operations will be between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., and the heaviest activity will be Feb. 7 and 8.

The Alabama National Guard has several field artillery units that must periodically fire their artillery pieces in order to stay qualified and proficient in their use; however, we have made efforts to minimize any possible disturbance this training may have on the local populace.
