ALBANY, NY (07/07/2010)(readMedia)-- Pamela Wiss, a volunteer and member of Palisades Federal Credit Union's board of directors, was named a 2010 Outstanding Volunteer by the Credit Union Association of New York at their Annual Meeting and Convention held recently in Cooperstown, N.Y.
The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes individuals who exemplify commitment to a credit union or to the New York credit union movement. Wiss won the award in the asset category of $50-$250 million.
"Volunteers like Pamela are an essential part of what makes credit unions uniquely able to help members build a better financial future," said William J. Mellin, the Association's president/CEO. "Her contributions are a major reason for the continued safety and soundness of Palisades Federal Credit Union."
For more than 20 years, Wiss has served on the board of directors for Palisades Federal Credit Union. She simultaneously serves as the chairperson of the credit union's supervisory committee. Throughout her tenure, Wiss has worked tirelessly on behalf of the credit union's membership. She devotes enormous amounts of time to personally conduct numerous audits while still finding time to schedule, meet with and review the work of the credit union's auditors.

She is an extremely active volunteer, attending numerous chapter and Association meetings, and completing all 66 volunteer programs offered by the Credit Union National Association, a very admirable achievement for a volunteer. Throughout her years of service, Wiss has also spearheaded the recruiting of many new board members.
