ALBANY, NY (07/14/2011)(readMedia)-- Barbara Dillon, Piffard resident and CEO of SUNY Geneseo Federal Credit Union, was named a 2011 Outstanding Professional by the Credit Union Association of New York at their 2011 Annual Meeting and Convention held recently in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Outstanding Professional honors are awarded to individuals whose life's passion is credit unions, as demonstrated by hard work, dedication and success. Dillon won the award in the credit union asset category of $50 million or less.
"Barbara's contributions to SUNY Geneseo and the credit union movement in New York State are exemplary and have distinguished her as an Outstanding Professional," said the Association's President/CEO William J. Mellin.
Dillon has served as the CEO of SUNY Geneseo FCU for the past 24 years. In 2010, she continued to demonstrate exemplary leadership by pursuing growth opportunities and reducing costs for the credit union. Dillon successfully negotiated a contract extension with SUNY Geneseo, securing the credit union's office location for an additional five years and overseeing the installation of two new ATM machines on the university campus. She also implemented a marketing plan that increased credit union member accounts by 240, increased mortgage loan volume by 38 percent, increased mortgage funds loaned by 44 percent and increased online banking usage and online statements to 89 percent, saving the credit union nearly $500 a month.
Additionally, Dillon redesigned the credit union's logo and informational brochures, producing all materials in house, saving the credit union hundreds in printing costs.
Thanks to Dillon's effort and leadership, SUNY Geneseo FCU has maintained a strong financial position in a very challenging economic environment.
