"The Wilkes-Barre Township Price Chopper in the East End Center has been one of the business leaders of our community since it originally opened in 1088. In the twenty years the market has been open, it has been an excellent business partner with Wilkes-Barre Township. We appreciate the fact that The Golub Corporation has chosen Wilkes-Barre Township, again, as the site of their new, larger and service enhanced Price Chopper market. On behalf of the residents of Wilkes-Barre Township, I would like to extend our best wishes for continued success at the store's new more centralized location," said Mayor Carl Kuren.
The developer of the project, William Feinstein of Ventura Development, stated that "It is always a pleasure to work with a first class company like Price Chopper. This supermarket will be a state of the art facility that will be a tremendous amenity for the residents of Wilke-Barre Township."
The projected opening is for late fall of this year. The store will create approximately 75 full and part-time jobs for the community and will be open 24 hours. All Price Chopper associates from the existing Wilkes-Barre Township store will be offered jobs at the new store.
