Price Chopper Supermarkets, Inc. is voluntarily recalling their store brand sundae cones and their natural line of Full Circle snack mixes because of possible salmonella contamination. The products include:
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection with salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. For more information on Salmonella, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Website at http://www.cdc.gov <http://www.cdc.gov/> .
This action was taken as a result of the recently expanded recall by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) to include all peanut ingredients produced in their Blakely, Georgia facility. None of the recalled Price Chopper or Full Circle products have been directly linked to the salmonella outbreak, and there have been no illnesses reported.
The recalled products were sold in price Chopper sores located in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
Customers may return any affected product to their local Price Chopper store for a full refund. Customers with questions or concerns may call Price Chopper's Consumer Services Department at 1-800-666-7667, option 3, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
