Since Price Chopper started Tools for Schools, more than 8 million dollars of educational equipment has been donated to schools. The enthusiasm and support of communities has made this program successful and beneficial to students.
Price Chopper's 8th Tools For Schools program launched on August 2nd, six weeks earlier than last year and continues through February 13, 2010. This year Price Chopper has increased the opportunity to earn equipment by increasing the number of brands that earn a school Double Points. Every purchase at Price Chopper counts towards total points. Parents also will have an even greater incentive to help their children's schools, because they can accumulate discounts in Price Chopper's Fuel AdvantEdge Program. So when schools save on tools, parents also save on fuel (10¢ or more off per gallon).
"Tools for Schools" is based on a system that assigns points to every dollar spent on groceries. These points are then accumulated by the schools and used towards the purchase of much-needed classroom tools. Shoppers credit the school of their choice at the Guest Service desk at a local Price Chopper, a neighborhood school or online at www.pricechopper.com, by registering their AdvantEdge card, and choosing a designated school. Each time a purchase is made with that card, the shopper's school accumulates points. Shoppers should also be aware of specially marked items from participating sponsors - J.M. Smuckers, General Mills, Kraft, Nabisco, Heinz, Campbell, Quaker, Clorox, and Proctor & Gamble name products that will earn double points. New this year are Unilever, Kimberly Clark, Nestle Purina Pet Care and Kelloggs.
The top 200 schools will receive a FREE GBC Shred Master Departmental Shredder ($1,000 value). There are 2 Grand Prizes of 350,000 bonus tape value points! The two categories are top school based on total tape value and top school based on total tape value per student ratio.
Also new this year, Price Chopper has added a "Tools for Schools" Supply Drive! The drive will run through September 19th. Customers can purchase school supplies to help schools in need right in their own communities. This is yet another example of Price Chopper's commitment to support the communities in which they do business.
Any school that submits by e-mail to info@shoppercredit.com their "School Supply List" with their school code by September 30th earns 1,000 bonus points. Price Chopper wants to make sure parents and teachers get all the school supplies required by their school. Double points can be earned for all school supplies purchased at Price Chopper. Over 40,000 Tools for Schools Parents shopped for school supplies at Price Chopper last year!
"The beauty of 'Tools for Schools' is that not only is it perfect for parents of school age children, but it's also a great way for friends, grandparents, and neighbors to enrich their local educational community," said Barbara L. Page, Community and Public Relations Manager for Price Chopper. "Additionally, it adapts well to organizations that wish to enhance educational opportunities by encouraging its members to 'donate' their points to a school."
"We chose this program over others," Page added, "because it is so easy for the general public to participate. It only takes a single time to register one's AdvantEdge card and involves no paperwork."
Geared toward elementary, middle and high schools in six states throughout the northeast, "Tools for Schools" offers schools the opportunity to compete for over $500,000 in educational, technological, and extracurricular equipment. Possibilities cover a wide range of subjects, from arts and music, to science and math, to sports, and include such tools as new computers and computer software, microscopes, calculators, maps, motorized models, athletic mats, easels, and a myriad of other useful learning necessities.
