Richelle Bucklin Named Player of the Week for NCCAA

Local Athlete Receives Award from National Athletic Organization

CLEARWATER, FL (09/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Richelle Bucklin of Royal Oak was named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week for the week of September 3-9. The women's volleyball player is a graduate of Bethany Christian School in Troy, MI, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Lichia Bucklin of Royal Oak.

According to the NCCAA website, "Richelle Bucklin, senior middle hitter from Clearwater Christian College, led her team to a 6-0 week. On Tuesday night against Southeastern University (NAIA), Richelle had a career high match with 21 kills averaging 7 kills per set with a .400 hitting efficiency and 2 blocks. Then, over the weekend at the South Region NCCAA start-up tournament, Richelle had 50 kills with 4.1 kills per set and a .390 hitting efficiency. She also had 5.5 blocks."

Athletic Director, Mike Touma, said, "It is great to see Richelle be honored as the Player of the Week. Her hard work and effort is a good example to all Cougar athletes."
