NEW YORK, NY (02/18/2010)(readMedia)-- A Rochester woman who pleaded guilty to burning her 2005 automobile for insurance money was sentenced Tuesday to five years probation, 10 work weekends in jail and to pay $500 in restitution.
Lakisha Cribb, 32, of Newcomb Street, was sentenced in Monroe County Court. She pleaded guilty in December to third degree insurance fraud.
Cribb was arrested as the result of an investigation by the New York State Insurance Department's Frauds Bureau and the Rochester Police Department. She admitted reporting to police that her Dodge Stratus had been stolen after she burned the car so she could file a $12,700 insurance claim. She was never paid for the claim.
The case was prosecuted by Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Kevin Fitzgerald.
