"Iran was forced to the negotiating table because biting sanctions are forcing the dictatorial leaders of the Islamic Republic to try to get economic relief from sanctions that are bankrupting their country.

"It would be a grave error if current sanctions are weakened in exchange for empty promises from a regime that has killed hundreds of Americans and enslaves its own people.

"While the Obama Administration is prepared to lift sanctions the American people know that the only hope of stopping Iran's nuclear program without military action is to increase sanctions on the Islamic Republic now.

"We must always keep in mind that Iran continues its 30 year war against Americans.Our State Department has identified Iran as the largest state sponsor of terrorism. We must stop them from becoming a nuclear power that will share nuclear weapons with terrorists.

"We implore members of the Senate from both parties to join a bipartisan group of Senators lead by Senators Menendez and Kirk in support of immediately increasing sanctions against Iran.
