Senior From The Albany Academies Signs With Division I College To Play Soccer
Denzel Ogunyase of Albany to play soccer at Elon University in North Carolina
ALBANY, NY (03/07/2008)(readMedia)-- Denzel Ogunyase of Albany, a senior at The Albany Academies, has received a Division I scholarship to play soccer at Elon University, a school of 5,000 students in North Carolina (Southern Conference).
Denzel was named the “Player of the Year” in the Colonial Council this past fall; third in Section II with 22 goals; third in Section II with 33 points, and was part of the Academies’ Boys Varsity Soccer 14-0 Colonial Council League Championship Team (17-1 overall).
Elon University is recognized as a national leader in engaged learning, with top ratings in the National Survey of Student Engagement. Newsweek-Kaplan named Elon the hottest college in the nation for student engagement in its 2006 guide.
The Albany Academies is home to the two campuses of The Albany Academy (West Campus) and Albany Academy for Girls (East Campus), which share a nearly 200-year-old tradition of outstanding single-gender independent school education.
