The Albany Academies Names New Faculty/Staff
Faculty changes announced for Upper School; new receptionist named
ALBANY, NY (07/31/2008)(readMedia)-- (Albany) - The Albany Academies is pleased to announce the addition of four new faculty members to its Upper School along with a new school receptionist.
Wendy Muhlfelder '67 will serve as East Campus Dean of Students. Ms. Muhlfelder has been a member of the Academies faculty since 1989 in both the Lower and Middle Schools. She has been a strong member of the Faculty Discipline Committee for the past two years, and has also worked as a Grade Level Dean in the Middle School. Ms. Muhlfelder has a bachelor's degree from The College of Saint Rose and a master's degree in education from Wheelock College. Emer Taylor, who has been with the Academies for three years, will join the Upper School Math Program. She has taught upper level courses in the Middle School - including geometry - and will now teach Upper School Algebra I and Honors Geometry. Ms. Taylor has a bachelor's degree from the Dublin Institute of Technology and a higher diploma in education from the University College of Dublin. Dr. Susan Radcliff will join the Fine Arts Department as the Upper School Music & Band Director. She comes to the Academies with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, having worked as both a teacher and performer. Her interests range from classical to pop music. Dr. Radcliff has a bachelor's degree from SUNY Purchase, and both a master's degree and doctorate from SUNY Stony Brook. Dr. Brant Nelson will join the Upper School as a Physics Teacher. He has extensive knowledge of astronomy and physics, and has spent many years in the field as a professional scientist. Dr. Nelson has expertise in use of astronomical instrumentation, scientific research, technical writing and editing, and computer skills in replacing data. He has a bachelor's degree in astronomy from Williams College, and both a master's degree and doctorate in astronomy from UCLA. Katherine Conroy will join the Academies as the school receptionist. She has extensive experience in the hospitality industry, having most recently served as Acting General Manager of The Quality Inn in Albany.
