DES MOINES, IA (03/12/2015)(readMedia)-- Shenandoah Community Schools English Language Learner associate Patty Roberts will receive the Iowa State Education Association's (ISEA) Education Support Professional Award, Friday, April 10, at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines before a group of statewide educators attending the ISEA Delegate Assembly.
"We represent so many outstanding professionals and Patty is a wonderful example of someone who has gone above and beyond and truly exemplifies what it means to be a committed and caring professional. Patty's dedication to her students, her school, the ELL community and her local association make her a gift to the entire community" said ISEA President Tammy Wawro.
As an ELL associate, integration of services, interpreting, translating, and mentor/coaching are all part of a day's work. Patty wears many hats in the Shenandoah schools, especially serving the K-12 population, but she has demonstrated a deep and caring understanding of the importance of her role and how integral it is to the success of all students.
"Patty is such a wonderfully caring and committed professional and we are proud she is a member of the association. She embodies the Education Support Professional Award and we are pleased to be able to give her the recognition she so richly deserves," added Wawro.
The Education Support Professional Award was established to recognize the many contributions school support staff members make to teachers, students, and the education profession. Deadline for nominations is January 15.
