Shennell Brathwaite of Champaign Wins Townsend Press Scholarship

Parkland College student reads 30 books to win publishing company's reading contest

CHAMPAIGN, IL (04/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Shennell Brathwaite of Champaign, a student at Parkland College, has received a $300 scholarship for reading 30 assigned books as part of the Townsend Press Reading Contest.

Parkland's Center for Academic Success offers the reading contest in conjunction with Townsend Press. The West Berlin, New Jersey, publishing company seeks to promote reading by sponsoring scholarship contests, publishing a library of compelling $1 paperbacks, distributing reading motivation posters, and donating books to schools and community organizations.
