Show of Solidarity as Upstate Occupiers Descend on Albany for Day of Action

Rally and March, Followed by Delivery of Message from 99% Demanding Senate and Governor Extend Millionaires Tax

ALBANY, NY (11/17/2011)(readMedia)-- Hundreds of Occupiers will join representatives of Community and Labor groups from across Upstate New York for an action in Albany on Thursday. Buses and carloads will come from as far as Buffalo and Rochester (and as close as Saratoga), arriving at Academy Park for a series of events culminating in the delivery of letters and petitions from New Yorkers calling for an extension of the Millionaires Tax.

The Albany events are part of a nationwide day of action for jobs and economic justice bringing together Community, Labor and Occupy groups from New York City to Los Angeles and demonstrating solidarity and resolve as police continues crackdowns across the country.

The day of action will begin as buses from Buffalo and Rochester arrive at 11:30 am, before the kickoff rally at Noon at Academy Park. The rally will be followed by a march up Washington Avenue. The Marchers will then return to the Capitol Building at approximately 2 PM for the delivery of petitions and letters from all over the state calling on the Governor and the Senate to stop the planned $5 billion tax break for millionaires and billionaires.
