Southern California University of Health Sciences Alumna Cindy Vaughn Named Delegate Of The Year By ACA
ARLINGTON, VA (10/20/2008)(readMedia)-- The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) recently honored Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) Alumna and Austin resident Cindy Vaughn, DC, with its prestigious Delegate of the Year award during the association's annual House of Delegates meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio. The award is presented annually for exceptional service, achievement and leadership within the association's governing body.
Dr. Vaughn is a 16-year member of ACA and has served as the association's delegate to East Texas since 2003. She is an active member of several prominent ACA committees, including the Military/Veterans Affairs Committee, the Bylaws Committee, the Membership Executive Committee, the Coding Reimbursement Committee and is Chair of the Clinical Documentation Committee. She is a champion of the benefits of ACA membership, having recruited many new general members, and serves as one of the association's national media spokespersons.
"Dr. Vaughn exemplifies all the principles of great leadership and is an excellent role model for ACA's state delegates," said ACA President Glenn Manceaux, DC. "This award recognizes Cindy's unique contributions and in a small way, thanks her for dedicating a considerable amount of time and effort to improve the ACA and the chiropractic profession."
In further recognition of Dr. Vaughn's contributions, Dr. Manceaux presented her with one of four Presidential Awards, a special recognition presented at the discretion of the association president.
A supporter of the chiropractic profession on the state and national levels, Dr. Vaughn previously served on the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards and the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs Chiropractic Advisory Committee, to name just a few.
Dr. Vaughn is a 1984 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Southern California University of Health Sciences (formerly Los Angeles College of Chiropractic) and has practiced in Austin since 1989. She is currently in private practice with her husband, Dr. James Edwards, at Austin Chiropractic Center. The couple resides with her children in Circle C Ranch.
The ACA, based in Arlington, Va., is the largest chiropractic organization in the country. The ACA provides lobbying, public relations, professional and educational opportunities for doctors of chiropractic, funds research regarding chiropractic and health issues, and offers leadership for the advancement of the profession.
