Southern California University of Health Sciences’ Graduation Features US Olympic Medical Director
Alumnus Michael Reed, Medical Director at US Olympic Training Center To Give Keynote Address At December 2008 Commencement
WHITTIER, CA (11/03/2008)(readMedia)-- Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) is announcing that alumnus Michael Reed, DC, DACBSP, CCSP, CSCS will be featured as the keynote speaker at the December commencement. The commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 10AM-12PM PST; it will be located on the SCU campus in Whittier, CA for the first time in the university's history. The New Alumni Reception will take place in the gymnasium immediately following the ceremony.
Reed was recently named as Medical Director of the Performance Services Division at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Reed also was selected by the US Olympic Committee (USOC) to serve on the 62-member medical staff that supported US athletes in Beijing, China at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Reed is a December 1981 graduate of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC). He has served as a faculty member for a number of years at both LACC and in the SCU Postgraduate Division. He also served as Director of the SCU Student Health Center and developed the SCU Sports Medicine Residency, where he served as its first Director. He is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Sports Physicians (DABCSP), and earned the Masters of Applied Science in Musculoskeletal Management degree awarded by SCU in conjunction with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.
Southern California University of Health Sciences incorporates the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, the School of Professional Studies, and the University Health Centers.
