Southern California University of Health Sciences Holds Commencement on Whittier Campus
WHITTIER, CA (12/16/2008)(readMedia)-- The Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) December commencement ceremony was held on Saturday, December 13, 2008. It was located on the SCU campus in Whittier, CA for only the second time in the school's history.
The commencement address was delivered by SCU alumnus Michael Reed, DC, DACBSP, CCSP, CSCS. Reed was recently named Medical Director of the Performance Services Division at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Reed also was selected by the US Olympic Committee (USOC) to serve on the 62-member medical staff that supported US athletes in Beijing, China at the 2008 Olympic Games.
For the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Jennifer Kroger was honored as the class valedictorian and Julia Su was recognized as the salutatorian.
For the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, Dustin Nabhan was honored as the class valedictorian and Sebastian Andrew Gonzalez III was recognized as the salutatorian.
The SCU Clinical Advancement Award was presented posthumously to David Jackson, DC for the development of the preceptor program in conjunction with the LACC internship program in 1979. The award was received by Jackson's granddaughter Melissa Gale Allen.
The New Alumni Reception took place in the gymnasium immediately following the ceremony.
Southern California University of Health Sciences incorporates the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, the School of Professional Studies, and the University Health Centers.
