SPRINGFIELD, IL (04/15/2013)(readMedia)-- Capt. David M. Malenfant Jr. of Springfield, with the Illinois National Guard's Joint Force Headquarters in Springfield, was sworn in as the inspections branch chief with the Illinois National Guard's Inspector General's Office April 12 at Camp Lincoln in Springfield.
As inspections branch chief, Malenfant ensures compliance to regulations, policies, and procedures to enhance readiness and war-fighting capabilities while supporting leaders, Soldiers, Airmen and civilians working for the Illinois National Guard.
A 1993 Benet Academy graduate, Malenfant enlisted into the Army Reserve in 1992 and later enlisted into the Illinois Army National Guard in 1994. After achieving the rank of sergeant first class and completing the accelerated Officer Candidate School at Alabama Military Academy, Fort McClellan, Alabama he commissioned as a second lieutenant in the quartermaster branch.
Malenfant deployed to Egypt from May 2010 to May 2011 with the 1st Battlion, 123rd Field Artillery Regiment in support of the Multinational Force Observer Mission.
