Statement by New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento on the Passage of Privacy for Educators

ALBANY, NY (06/21/2012)(readMedia)-- "The Governor, Senate, and Assembly should be commended for putting the education of our children first. From the beginning, NYSUT and UFT have been focused on solutions that improve outcomes through the partnership of teachers, parents and administrators, while at the same time protecting the rights of those that have dedicated their lives to our children. The legislation passed today strikes that balance, and is a positive resolution to an issue that had broader implications for all workers. It demonstrates once again that giving workers a voice at the table is the best way to move our state forward."
