Statement from NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento On the Tentative Contract Agreement at Belmont Park

The tentative agreement between maintenance workers and starters at Belmont Park and the New York State Racing Association (NYRA) ensures that horseracing fans will enjoy one of the premier venues in the world. The Negotiating Committee of Local 3 was successful in protecting the jobs and benefits of the workers and at the same time bringing labor harmony to NYRA. This harmony will assist NYRA in its restructuring and help protect the thousands of jobs that are dependent upon a vibrant thoroughbred racing industry in New York State.

Local 3 should be commended for its efforts.
