The 257th Army Band presents Distinctly American Sounds & Silence

WASHINGTON, DC (05/18/2012)(readMedia)-- The Band of the Nation's Capital will perform a free spring concert at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

"We'll paint the patriotic landscape of American music," said Chief Warrant Officer Sheila Klotz, commander of the 257th Army Band, DC National Guard. "We're proud of the diversity of our musical heritage and this concert highlights the best in uniquely American sound."
There will be something for everyone, Klotz said. The band will showcase music spanning several decades beginning with music from the silent movie era, World War II, jazz, soul, pop and funk.
"This is a celebration of American music ingenuity featuring Sgt. Vicki Golding, our talented, award-winning singer," Klotz said. "We're also premiering our newest ensembles, Tactical Sax and Brigadier Brass."
Military concerts are free and open to the public. Special tribute is paid to veterans and members of the Armed Forces.
