Benjamin M. Barr tapped to head player development for hockey program

ALBANY, NY (04/02/2008)(readMedia)-- (Albany) – The Albany Academies is pleased to announce the addition of Benjamin M. Barr as Director of Player Development for the school's Hockey Program – part of the New England Prep League.

Barr will focus his energy on implementing strategies and overseeing the on/off ice development of hockey players at all levels; he will also serve as the Assistant Varsity Hockey Coach alongside current Head Coach Dave Rider '73.

Barr served as a volunteer assistant with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy during the 2007-2008 season and has extensive experience coaching youth hockey. He was a four-year letter winner during his time attending RPI and served as the Team Captain during the 2003-2004 season. Barr enjoyed impressive hockey careers at both Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Minnesota (an independent prep school) and RPI.

The Albany Academies is home to the two campuses of The Albany Academy (West Campus) and Albany Academy for Girls (East Campus), which share a nearly 200-year-old tradition of outstanding single-gender independent school education. Both campuses bring with them deeply treasured values of community, tradition, and purpose to the newly formed school known as The Albany Academies.
