Marna Redding and Susan Tobin tapped to head alumni/ae relations, annual fund

ALBANY, NY (01/28/2008)(readMedia)-- (Albany) – The Albany Academies is pleased to announce the addition of Marna S. Redding as Director of Alumni/ae Relations and Susan K. Tobin as Director of its Annual Fund.

Redding will focus her energies on building lifelong relationships with the school’s alumni/ae (The Albany Academy and Albany Academy for Girls) through new programming and outreach initiatives, and will be responsible for all alumni/ae programs and services. She will also serve as the liaison to the school’s Alumni Association (AA) and Alumnae Council (AAG).

Redding comes to the Academies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she served as the Assistant Dean for the Office of the First-Year Experience and was responsible for planning campus-wide initiatives. Directly prior to her time at RPI, Redding worked for Empire State College as the Assistant Director of the Annual Fund.

A Niskayuna resident, Redding graduated from Manlius Pebble Hill and received her Bachelor of Arts from Gettysburg College in Psychology and Master of Science in college student personnel from Miami University (OH).

Tobin will be responsible for maintaining the school's fundraising office to generate support for the Annual Fund and build an additional base of support for growing fundraising such as major gifts and a capital campaign.

Tobin spent almost 10 years as the Annual Fund Director for Siena College, where she was charged with handling the institution’s annual giving program; volunteer management, direct mail; campus/regional phone-athons; research; and donor recognition. She also served as Development Director for Colonie Senior Service Centers, creating a comprehensive development program to raise funds in support of programs and services provided to seniors and their families in the Town of Colonie.
