ALBANY, NY (10/03/2012)(readMedia)-- The Business Council of New York State, Inc. will host what is considered to be the longest running and most important conference focused on environmental matters in New York State. The Council's Annual Industry-Environment Conference will take place at the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa in Saratoga October on17-19.
Marcellus Shale development, wetlands policy and environmental enforcement will be among the issues addressed by experts from both the public and private sectors. There will also be a detailed appraisal of the Brownfield Cleanup Program, which was established in 2003. Participants will hear remarks from Joseph Martens, the commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Karen Moreau, executive director of the New York State Petroleum Council. She will lead a discussion on "Empire State Divide," the film she produced about the clash between rural New York State land owners and opponents of natural gas development.
Engineers attending the conference may earn up to six New York State Education Department continuing education professional engineering credits. One and a half credits are awarded for each 90-minute session. A certificate is sent at the completion of the conference.
