ALBANY, NY (03/01/2010)(readMedia)-- The economic crisis has created an unprecedented situation for the public transit industry in New York State. Ridership is increasing as people turn to public transportation to help ease their economic burdens. At the same time, growing State budget deficits are resulting in fare increases, service reductions and delayed capital improvements in transit agencies, large and small, throughout the State. On March 1, representatives from the state's transit agencies, riders, labor and business partners will come together to meet with lawmakers. It has never been more important for the transportation community to have a strong voice and presence in Albany, NY.
