U.S. Bank's Gifford Elected Chairman, Board MVP of the Association of Contingency Planners

ALBANY, NY (11/26/2013)(readMedia)-- Michael Gifford, MBCI, CBCP, Vice President / Director of Enterprise Business & Technology Readiness Services for U.S. Bank was elected Corporate Board Chairman of the Association for Contingency Planners (ACP) at the organization's annual strategic leadership meetings held November 15-17 in Dallas, TX. Also at this meeting, Gifford was recognized as the 2013 Corporate Board MVP (Most Valuable Player).
"I'm honored to continue serving as Chairman of ACP as we further advance the profession. ACP members play a vital role in minimizing and recovering from natural and man-made disasters, and as an organization we are dedicated to protecting lives, safeguarding businesses and fostering community resiliency," said Gifford.
As Chairman, Gifford is responsible for overseeing the business of the association and serves as a spokesperson for the nation's evolving fields of business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency response. Prior to joining U.S. Bank, Gifford was with the Capital Group Companies for nearly seven years. Before that, he was the Director of Audit Assurance and Regulatory Programs for JPMorgan Chase's Global Technology Infrastructure team. Prior to the merger of Bank One with JPMC in 2004, he was the Director of Disaster Recovery for Bank One's Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) team within Technology and Operations. Gifford also worked for State Farm Insurance for 21 years in a variety of leadership positions, including manager of the Systems Disaster Recovery Team, and manager of the Systems Catastrophe Services team. Gifford's education background includes his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota. He served as the founding President of the ACP Alamo Chapter, San Antonio, TX for four years, ACP Corporate Board Director of Membership Services, and is now starting his third year as Corporate Board Chairman.
Gifford was recognized by his fellow Corporate Board members with the 2013 Corporate Board MVP Award. Each year, this award honors the outstanding work and dedication of a serving Board member.

As we move in to 2014, the ACP Corporate Board will continue our great progress on the strategic initiatives outlined during our meetings earlier this month," commented Gifford.
