UNICEF Tap Project Comes to Albany

ALBANY, NY (03/18/2010)(readMedia)-- Eight restaurants in Downtown Albany will be participating in the national UNICEF Tap Project program March 21-27, 2010. Begun in 2007, the program is very simple: participating restaurants ask their patrons to donate $1 or more for the tap water they usually enjoy for free, and all funds raised will support UNICEF's efforts to bring clean and accessible water to millions of children around the world.

Albany's participating restaurants include: Albany Pump Station, 19 Quackenbush Square, 518.447.9000; Angelo's 677 Prime, 677 Broadway, 518.427.7463; Café Capriccio, 49 Grand Street, 518.465.0439; Dale Miller Restaurant, 30 S. Pearl Street, 518.694.3322; Franklin's Tower, 414 Broadway, 518.431.1920; Hollywood Brown Derby, 22 Clinton Avenue, 518.463.1945; La Serre, 14 Green Street, 518.463.6056; and Yono's, 25 Chapel Street, 518.436.7747.

"The Downtown Albany BID was excited to organize this opportunity for the patrons of our downtown restaurants," stated Georgette Steffens, Executive Director of the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District. "What a great way to have an impact in countries of need while supporting locally owned establishments. Albany has been recognized in the past for its great tasting drinking water so there is a nice tie-in for Albany restaurants to participate in the Tap Project."

Yono's has participated previously in the Tap Project – this is the first-time for the seven other downtown Albany restaurants.
