Village Green Donates Event Proceeds to Illinois Military Family Relief Fund

CHICAGO (06/30/2011)(readMedia)-- Village Green Communities recently sponsored an event April 30 at each of its 20 facilities in the Chicago area to raise money during its Annual Splash Day with the proceeds donated to the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund.

Village Green, which is headquartered in Detroit, decided this year's focus would be to support programs that directly help military service members and their families. The Chicago-area facilities selected the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund as this year's recipient for all proceeds and donations. This year Village Green raised more than $11,500 for the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund Grant Program.

The Illinois Military Family Relief Fund provides grants to Illinois National Guard members and Illinois residents who are veterans of the Armed Forces and have deployed in support of operations directly related to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Since 9/11, the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund has disbursed more than $12,000,000 to more than 23,000 applicants. The Illinois Military Family Relief Fund is funded through individual and corporate donations, state income tax check-off donations and from the Illinois general revenue fund.
