LYNCHBURG, VA (05/17/2010)(readMedia)-- The Virginia Credit Union League, the statewide trade association for Virginia-based credit unions, is proud to announce that the following individuals have been elected to its Board of Directors:
• Robert "Bob" Petty, of Bronco Federal Credit Union (Franklin, Virginia)
• Paul Phillips, of Freedom First Federal Credit Union (Roanoke, Virginia)
• Karen Orie, of Hampton Roads Educators' Credit Union (Hampton, Virginia)
• Stan Leicester, of BayPort Credit Union (Newport News, Virginia)
• Iris Ellis, of Assurance Federal Credit Union (Richmond, Virginia), and
• Cliff DeMars, of Roanoke Postal Employees Federal Credit Union (Roanoke, Virginia).
Orie was elected to a two-year term. All others were re-elected to three-year terms.
The League is directed by a 13-member board of directors, representing the entire state. The 13 directors are elected by member credit unions and are responsible for setting League policy and directing League affairs.
Following the announcement of the election results at the League's Annual Meeting on May 8, the League Board held a reorganization meeting, electing the following officers:
• Bob Petty, of Bronco Federal Credit Union, chairman
• Suzanne Hughes, of the University of Virginia Community Credit Union (Charlottesville, Virginia), vice chairman
• Paul Phillips, of Freedom First Federal Credit Union, treasurer
• Cheryl Dickerson, of Fairfax City Federal Credit Union (Fairfax, Virginia), secretary
The League Board also elected the following individuals as the officers for the League's wholly-owned subsidiary, Virginia Credit Union Services Inc. (VACUS). VACUS provides products and services to credit unions designed to support credit unions' member service mission, such as credit and debit card programs, insurance products for credit union members, and check/share draft processing.
• Bill Cook, of Northwest Federal Credit Union (Herndon, Virginia), chairman
• Audrey Bollinger, of Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union (Petersburg, Virginia), vice chairman
• Paul Phillips, of Freedom First Federal Credit Union, treasurer
• Barbara Lockard, of Partners Financial Federal Credit Union (Richmond, Virginia), secretary
