Wanted: Girl Scout Greats

Recognizing 100 Years of Women in Leadership

ALBANY, NY (03/05/2012)(readMedia)-- This year's 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts provides the opportunity to publicly honor and celebrate the Northeastern New York region's most accomplished Girl Scouts – alumnae and current scouts – as "Girl Scout Greats": career women, civic leaders, Gold Award recipients, hard-working volunteers, celebrities, transformational leaders and current Girl Scouts who are making a difference in their community and the world. Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York invites alumnae and current Girl Scouts to share how their Girl Scout Leadership Experience has helped them make a difference in their community. Their stories may be featured across local media and will be shared with girls in the 15 counties served by Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York. Alumnae can share their stories here and current Girl Scouts here. Deadline for submission is April 1, 2012. Forms may be emailed to alumnae@gsneny.org or faxed to 518.792.4310. For more information, call 518.792.0947 x 202 or email alumnae@gsneny.org.

Simultaneously with the celebration of "Girl Scout Greats," Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York is looking for organizations to help show the extent of the Girl Scout movement in this council area by sharing how many of their current employees are Girl Scout alumnae (by overall quantity and percentage of female employees). For example, Girl Scouts USA national statistics show that 80% of women business owners were Girl Scouts. Each organization that participates becomes eligible to win one of 5 Girl Scout celebrations! To enter, email alumnae@gsneny.org with organization name, contact person, number of Girl Scout alumnae & the percentage of female employees who are Girl Scout alumnae. Deadline for submission is April 1, 2012. For more information, call 518.792.0947 or email alumnae@gsneny.org.
