ROCHESTER, NY (08/28/2018) Nazareth College rose again in the rankings to land at 25th on a list of the Best Master's Universities by the 2018 Washington Monthly College Guide and Rankings. The 13th annual College Guide and Rankings rates colleges and universities on their contributions to social mobility, research, and public service.
According to the magazine's system, colleges are ranked by their contribution to the country, and it recognizes institutions that provide an outstanding education while maintaining affordability. Washington Monthly rankings consist of three equally weighted portions: social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), research (producing cutting-edge scholarship), and service (encouraging students to give something back to their country). This means that top-ranked colleges needed to be excellent across the full breadth of our measures, rather than excelling in just one measure.
Nazareth students excel in service, annually performing more than 273,000 hours of community outreach and service learning. The College was one of five nationally named as a Presidential Awardee in the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to community service and civic engagement, and was a finalist for the 2011, 2014, and 2015 and 2016 awards. Nazareth College has been named to the honor roll since its inception in 2006.
