SAVANNAH, GA (12/11/2012)(readMedia)-- 23-year-old West Union native Ben Lebovitz, 2011 advertising graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design, believes that he can create change through design. So, with partner Sean Metcalf, he has launched a new line of clothing called Young&United with the express purpose of reviving the American Spirit. He hopes to get the line moving forward with a little help from his friends – and the on-line fundraising tool Kickstarter.
"Young&United is a 100% US-Made apparel and goods company. We want to supply the American Dreamers of today and tomorrow with the highest quality, made in America products to show that this generation is Young&United," says Ben. "From the finest quality in men's and women's fashion, to leather-crafted goods, and pro-American artworks - everything is made right here in the US."
"But in order to produce these items in the US at the best quality, we need to fulfill a minimum quantity with our manufacturers," says Ben. "If we reach our funding goal, we'll be putting everyone behind this production to work including our manufacturers, screen printers, and designers."
"These days, it seems like there's more that drives us apart than there is that keeps us together as a country. The 99% vs. the 1% -- blue vs. red," says Ben. "But with this line, we hope to help change that. We hope to shed light on how US manufacturing supports local economy and America's rebuild."
Ben became interested in design while taking classes at Southern State Community College in Hillsboro. "Under the mentorship of Professor James "Skip" Werline I discovered my passion for design. Skip pushed me artistically, and as an individual, I learned more than anything how to create purposeful artwork."
