LOS LUNAS, NM (06/14/2012)(readMedia)-- Women in Focus will be the topic for a presentation and panel discussion at the UNM-Valencia Campus on June 22nd.
The film "Miss Representation" will be screened, followed by a panel discussion that will cover topics ranging from career issues for women, to leadership roles, to women and disparities.
Scheduled from 12 noon to 3 p.m., the event will be held on the UNM-Valencia Campus in the Academics Building, Room 101. The public is invited to attend this free event.
Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film "Miss Representation" addresses how mainstream media contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film analyzes the media's limited and disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions.

The event is sponsored by UNM-Valencia Campus and the UNM-Valencia Wellness Club. For more information about the event, call 925-8830.
