Workers Speak Out Across Iowa

Message to Legislators: Stop the closed-door attacks on working families!

DES MOINES, IA (01/31/2017) (readMedia)-- IOWA -- Iowa workers will speak out across the state on Wednesday, calling on legislators to stop what have been described by media as closed door plans to attack the collective bargaining rights of public employees.

Press conferences are planned in seven locations statewide, where educators, nurses, and other public employees will speak and call on legislators to preserve worker's rights to collective bargaining, and to stop shutting out worker's voices from the legislative process.

The negative impact on the pocket books of the 180,000 public employees and their families will have a ripple effect across the state if their bargaining rights are stripped away. Workers will be represented at each event, and will continue to stand up and fight back if the legislature and Branstad/Reynolds administration move forward with their attacks on worker's rights.
