NASHVILLE TN (06/30/2011)(readMedia)-- The 2011 Year of Smiles Celebrity Clown Calendar, a fundraising project benefiting the American Lung Association in Tennessee, has won a 2011 APEX Award for Publication Excellence.
The awards for APEX 2011 are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the success of the entry – in the opinion of the judges – in achieving overall communications excellence, according to awards sponsor, Communications Concepts. The Year of Smiles Calendar was recognized in the category of One-of-a-Kind Publications, nonprofit division.
The first-year calendar, featured local and national celebrities from Tennessee, in clown makeup, poses, and clown-like scenarios. The participants included CMT's Katie Cook, American Idol alum Bucky Covington, UT Lady Vols Coach Pat Summitt, Jars of Clay lead singer Dan Haseltine, professional wrestling legend Jeff Jarrett, and others.
