2015 MLK Labor Celebration

A free community event honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King

ALBANY, NY (12/19/2014)(readMedia)-- On Monday, January 19th, 2015 the MLK Labor Celebration Committee of the Capital District Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, will host a free community event from Noon to 3:30PM at the William S. Hackett Middle School, 45 Delaware Ave. in Albany. The theme for the 2015 MLK Labor Celebration is: "Step Up- Take Back the Dream". The event will celebrate Dr. King's legacy of struggling for economic justice and the role of unions in this struggle. The program will include an activist panel discussion, informational tables, and a spirited program of drumming, dancing and entertainment. There will be activities for children and youth. The 2015 keynote speaker is long-time civil rights activist Colia L. Clark. Student winners of the 2015 MLK poster contest will be honored. Light refreshments will be served.
