Schenectady Labor Council Issues Candidate Endorsements

SCHENECTADY, NY (09/15/2015)(readMedia)-- The Schenectady Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO (SALC, AFL-CIO) issued their endorsements at their monthly Delegates meeting this week, which is the result of a process that spanned several months and included extensive written questionnaires as well as dozens of interviews with candidates for local public offices.

The endorsements focused on a number of candidates in Schenectady County, the City of Schenectady, the town of Duanesburg, Niskyuana, Glenville, and Rotterdam who were explicitly seeking support for their General Election campaigns.

SALC President Frank Natalie noted, "I would like to express my gratitude to all the council delegates for their hard work ensuring a fair and impartial examination of all the candidates."

He went on to add, "We would like to thank our endorsed candidates for their commitment to the priorities of working families throughout the region. The next step is working together to get these candidates elected so we can continue to build strong and vibrant communities that are built on equal opportunity and shared prosperity for all citizens."

The SALC intends to implement a vigorous field program and mobilize dozens of members to hit the streets in support of endorsed candidates, including door-to-door as well as phone banking and mailings.

  • Gary McCarthy, Mayor of Schenectady
  • Leesa Perazzo, City Council
  • Karen Zalewski-Wildzunas, City Council
  • John Polimeni, City Council
  • Ed Kosiur, City Council
  • Mark Caruso, City Court Judge

Schenectady County

  • William Levering, County Legislature (District 3)
  • Thomas Constantine, County Legislature (District 3)
  • Gary Hughes, County Legislature (District 2)

Town of Duanesburg

  • Camille Siano Enders, Town Justice

Town of Niskyuna

  • William McPartlon, Town Board
  • Lisa Weber, Town Board
  • Stephen Swinton, Town Justice
  • Joe Landry, Town Supervisor

Town of Glenville

  • Heather Gray, Town Board
  • Jared Hickey, Town Council

Town of Rotterdam

  • Steve Tommasone, Town Supervisor
