ALBANY, NY (04/21/2014)(readMedia)-- Labor, Faith, and Community members will come together for an annual service to honor injured and fallen workers from the Capital District. Workers Memorial Day is a National event, serving as both a day of remembrance, and a day of advocacy for safe working conditions. Working people throughout the world remember those who were injured or lost their lives to workplace fatalities and renew the struggle for safe workplaces. This event is co-sponsored by the Capital District Area Labor Federation (CDALF) and the North East New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NENYCOSH).

Our ceremony will include a message from local Labor Leaders and members of the Health and Safety Community, a performance by local poet and activist Victorio Reyes and a memorial service honoring our sisters & brothers who lost their lives on the job this past year. Speakers this year will highlight the importance of the "Scaffold Law" in protecting workers on the job.

Matt London, North East New York Committee for Safety and Health (NENYCOSH)
