A Midsummer Night's Dream at Geneva College
The spring semester play will show on February 21-23 and on March 14-16.
BEAVER FALLS, PA (02/15/2013)(readMedia)-- The Geneva College Studio Theatre is preparing Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Dr. David Kuhns, professor of English. Performances will be on February 21-23, and then after Geneva's spring break on March 14-16. All days offer shows at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinee performances on both Saturdays.
"Right off the bat, you get something different," explains senior Anna Harris, who is cast in the role of Puck, an impish servant of the fairy king. "We're straying from the original setting of Athens and have gone the 'British occupation of India' route. That change plays well with the script itself."
"Doctor Dave has done a great job of giving this setting depth," Harris continues, citing Dr. Kuhns' insight regarding how each character manifests onstage, and how they all interact.
Junior Gwen Gamble, who plays a fairy, states "All the fairies get to bop around and have fun together. There's this big hollow tree we get to climb around in."
The Studio Theatre is located next to Sheetz on Fourth Avenue in Beaver Falls, PA.
Tickets cost $2 for children 12 and under; $3 for Geneva students, alumni, and seniors 60 and older; 3.50 for Geneva faculty and staff; and $5 for general admission. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Studio Theatre box office at 724-847-5099.
