MONTGOMERY, AL (06/09/2011)(readMedia)-- A majority of the Alabama Army National Guard's 214th Military Police Company of Alexander City and Opelika will be returning from a year long deployment in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn, Friday, June 10. The troops are scheduled to arrive at their Alexander City armory at 2101 Sugarcreek Parkway at approximately *1:30 p.m.
The remainder of the unit is scheduled to return as early as next week. Families, the city of Alexander City and Alabama Guard officials will welcome home the follow-on group in a ceremony at that time. Information for that will be forthcoming.
The 214th conducted various Military Police and Police training missions while on deployment to Iraq.
Guard officials encourage the general public to attend the homecoming to show support for the Guard members and their families.
