SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (06/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Amanda Rodriguez, Class of 2013 at Skidmore College, has been elected to the Alpha Delta Tau Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the international history honor society. She is the daughter of Manny and Diana Rodriguez of Westport.
Founded in 1921, Phi Alpha Theta promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and thought among historians. It seeks to bring students, teachers, and writers of history together both intellectually and socially; and it encourages and assists, in a variety of ways, historical research and publication by its members.
Academic prizes were awarded during Honors Convocation, Skidmore's annual celebration of academic achievement. College President Philip A. Glotzbach, Director of Periclean Honors Forum and Professor of English Catherine Golden, Associate Professor of Classics Michael Arnush, Associate Professor of Spanish Grace Burton, and Vice President for Academic Affairs Susan A. Kress were among those awarding prizes to students at the event, which took place in early May on campus.
Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and pre-professional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
