ALBANY, NY (07/14/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York Capital Region chapter of the American Marketing Association (NYCRAMA) announced that Beth Wales, Marketing Executive for Public Employees Federation Membership Benefits Program (PEFMBP), will be honored as the 2010 Marketer of Excellence. Wales will receive her award during the 16th Annual Mark of Excellence Awards on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the downtown Albany Crowne Plaza on State and Lodge Streets.
Wales oversees the Membership Benefits Program of PEF, a member association comprising 59,000 New York state employees in the Professional, Scientific and Technical (PST) Union and approximately 5,000 retired PEF members. She has been with the association since 2008. Wales has pioneered a multi-media marketing platform that blends traditional direct mail tactics with digital communication. Last fall, the association carried out the most successful insurance open enrollment period in the 30-year history of the initiative. Challenged with engaging members to take advantage of exclusive insurance offers through The Hartford, Wales leveraged the data that PEF collects on their members to create a four-month campaign. Her use of content, design, and variable data personalization resulted in a response rate of more than ten percent, and generated millions in insurance premiums.
"It is such a compliment to be recognized by experts in marketing, especially when there are so many talented professionals to choose from," said Wales. "I've been lucky in my career to work at organizations with excellent products and services, who allowed me to apply the tools of my trade by learning from the marketplace and connecting their messages to the target audience. I was also very fortunate to have passionate mentors in my journey, starting with my father, who introduced me to the fundamentals of successful direct marketing. I love creating multi-media campaigns with measurable results, and to win this award for something that has given me so much satisfaction is a true honor."
Past recipients of the Marketer of Excellence Award include: Elmer E. Streeter, II, E. Kristen Frederick, Dr. Alan Chartock, Robert Provost, Lyn Taylor, and Kelly Lovell.
