Big Band Music Returns to Geneva College
BEAVER FALLS, PA (04/10/2012)(readMedia)-- The Geneva College Department of Music presents its annual jazz band concert, "In the Mood XVII, Big Band Music Returns," on Saturday, April 14 at 8 p.m. in the John H. White Chapel of Old Main.
This concert is one of the most well-attended events on campus each spring, providing a high energy performance with music from the '30s and '40s that continues to entertain and attract all ages.
Twenty students will perform and shape the traditional look of the early swing bands with contained brass, saxophone and rhythm sections. The program is directed by Don Kephart and will also include several vocal solos in addition to the solo features performed within the band.
A variety of musical selections are included in the concert, such as: A Salute to Benny Goodman, Blues on the Double, Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man, Contrasts, Estrellita, Indiana, In the Mood, It's Only a Paper Moon, Jeep Jockey Jump, Just in Time, Lover's Leap, Pennsylvania 6-5000, and The Nearness of You.
