ALBANY, NY (04/15/2008)(readMedia)-- In one evening, on April 2, 2008, the McDonald’s restaurants of the Capital Region partnered with 42 local schools to raise $19,571.89 for educational programs. This was the result of McDonald’s McTeacher’s Night, the first multi-restaurant fund raising effort in the locally- owned neighborhood McDonald’s restaurants.
Participating school’s principals, PTA presidents and teachers “worked” at their community McDonald’s restaurants in Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Watervliet, Pittsfield, Clifton Park Hudson, Malden, and surround areas , greeting customers, taking food orders, and assisting with food preparation for students, their parents and other school supporters in order to raise funds for their local school. Twenty percent of the McTeacher's Night’s receipts will be donated directly to the schools by each of the partnering McDonald’s restaurants
“It was inspiring to see droves of parents, school administrators and community members rally for such a worthy cause,” said Clark W. Brink, president, McDonald’s Owner Operators of the Capital Region. “McDonald’s is thrilled to help our neighborhood schools provide needed resources for our children.”
In addition to McTeacher's Night, local restaurant owners continue to support education through a variety of innovative educational and community programs that cater to the needs of elementary and high school students throughout the Capital Region.
