Capital District Labor Unions host forum to discuss "Making New York Work"

Local labor leaders to join with area labor activists and elected officials to lay out jobs campaign

ALBANY, NY (01/21/2014)(readMedia)-- The Capital District Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO (CDALF) is pleased to announce our first annual regional labor issues forum. Our program is designed to provide an opportunity for local affiliated labor organizations to lay out their advocacy priorities for the year.

Local Union leaders will be joined by rank-and-file Union members, allied community organizations, and local elected officials at various levels of government. Over the course of several short presentations, and through the lens of our "Making NY Work" campaign, our affiliates will present a jobs agenda for working class New Yorkers.

According to CDALF President Mary Sullivan, "This labor issues forum is a chance for hard working New Yorkers to have their voices heard on the pressing issues facing our State. From tax fairness, to corporate welfare reform, to defending our social nafety nets, and much more - our program will focus on how to create, keep, and maintain family-sustaining jobs in the capital district."

This widely attended community event will serve as a means of advancing the Making NY Work agenda and educating elected officials regarding the priorities of working men and women in the communities where we live and work. Additionally, we will be preparing labor and community activists to be more effective champions for our agenda over the legislative session, and beyond.
