Capital Region Marketers to Discuss "Are Newspapers Dead? the Future of Print in a Digital Age"

ALBANY, NY (03/15/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York Capital Region Chapter of the American Marketing Association (NYCRAMA) is pleased to present speakers Ron Ladouceur and Mike Danieli, who will lead the March breakfast roundtable titled "Are Newspapers Dead? The Future of Print in a Digital Age" on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at The Desmond on Albany Shaker Road in Albany.

Are newspapers simply too important to fail? Do they continue to be viable options for both news distribution and advertising? If one were to believe some national media, newspapers are dead or dying. Paid circulation is down, there are fewer advertisers and the number of free distribution newspapers is growing. Year over year, ad revenue is down by more than 20 percent, especially in key areas like real estate, automotive and help-wanted ads. How are newspapers – and their advertisers – coping?

Ron Ladouceur is the Executive Vice President and Executive Creative Director for Media Logic. He has been with Media Logic since the 75-person marketing firm opened its doors 25 years ago. Ladouceur directly oversees the agency's creative, design and interactive departments. His work in TV, radio, print, interactive and direct has won numerous national and regional awards. Ladouceur sits on the Board of Directors of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.

Mike Danieli is Marketing Director for the New York Press Association. He has more than 35 years of newspaper experience, most recently as director of strategic development for the Times Union. Danieli is responsible for marketing display and classified advertising placement services and for assisting salespeople at member newspapers with the development of media kits, rate cards, online ad sales, and presentations to major clients. He creates a monthly "Ad Managers' Memo" and "Agency Solutions" e-newsletter, and develops brochures and promotional materials for NYPA's annual conventions.
