Casey Sullivan Named Defensive Player of the Week
BROCKPORT, NY (10/16/2012)(readMedia)-- After posting his third career shutout, freshman Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) of The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Defensive Player of the Week. Sullivan helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 conference weekend.
Making his ninth and 10th consecutive starts over the weekend, Sullivan made five saves in net on Friday against the Cortland Red Dragons. Entering the game, Cortland was atop the SUNYAC standings. Sullivan and the Golden Eagles defeated the Red Dragons 4-0.
Against Oswego on Saturday, Sullivan played the first half, making two saves. Sullivan left the game at halftime as the Golden Eagles held a 4-0 advantage through the first 45 minutes.
Sullivan currently ranks among the top goaltenders in the SUNYAC in goals against average with a 1.05 average and save percentage at .827 percent.
The Golden Eagles wrap up their regular season schedule with a pair of SUNYAC games this weekend. Brockport will travel to Potsdam on Friday and Plattsburgh on Saturday. The Golden Eagles are currently tied for first place with Plattsburgh in the conference with a 6-1 record.
